Jackdaws have an elaborate social behavior. They are organized in groups to feed and sleep, with hierarchies even at the time of breeding. They have a reputation for being very intelligent, able to remember places, learn and memorize actions. Popular lore dismisses them as thieves, like magpies. Actually they are opportunists, taking advantage of prey and resources obtained by other species.
