The County Council updates their tourist app, which includes over 2.000 interest points

The Costa del Sol app, which is available in four languages, offers 103 resources from different municipalities of Malaga

The County Council of Malaga has finished the latest update of their touristic app for mobile devices “Costa del Sol Malaga”, which is available in four different languages (Spanish, English, French and German). The new version includes new projects that belong to the Pronvicial Council like la Gran Senda de Malaga, El Caminito del Rey, la Senda Litoral, or el Bosque de Cobre.

Marina Bravo, the Deputy of Environment and Territory Promotion, has explained that this second app version, which replaces the app that was launched in 2013, has been made with the effort of different departments that belong to the County Council as the Department of Information and Territory, Technology, and some others, in organization with the Environmental Department and Territory Promotion.

Moreover, Marina Bravo has stand out for the big effort of the different municipalities to improve the experience of the tourist, offering more than 2.000 georeferenced points in all the province. These points, are all ready uploaded in the app and makes an easy and quick use of it.

Furthermore, the resources are included in the web pages of the County Council, so the user will always have the latest updated information.

This mobile application can be downloaded in a free way using “smartphones” and tablets which have Android system from Google or IOS system from Apple, using the online store (Google play and iTunes). It´s also available in the web page:

To all this information you have to add support tools like videos, audioguides, history and the integration of the social networks Twitter and Facebook, which allow to share information from the Costa del Sol in real time with the rest of the world.

From  now on, the challenge is to improve the information using new videos, photos and touristic resources, mainly from important industries as wineries or environmental resources (trails, hikes, climbing, bike parks, plants and animals). The renewal of the information that is in the databases is constantly updated, therefore it´s not necessary to download a new app each time, because every time the mobile application is opened the latest information is refreshed.

The latest news in relation with the touristic demand

Marina Bravo, reminded the importance of this mobile application  for tourists that visit  the city  but also for people who live in Malaga, because it help full as a touristic guide for all the towns that belong to the province of Malaga. It includes very use full information. For example, It offers information from the different beaches along the province, the marina, fairgrounds or summer parks, city lookout (placed in the city) and nature lookouts (in the middle of the nature) with the best views from each village and It´s scenery.

Thanks to multimedia sources the chance is more use full every time, the app is trying to make each interest point have a short video so the tourist can watch it and decide if they are interested in visiting it or not.

The mobile application also includes a section for the basic services as health care and security. For healthcare there is classified important reference points like health centers, hospitals, private clinics and medical emergency services; meanwhile for the security section we can find the location for the headquarters forces and national forces.

Next improvements

The next update will include information for the touristic festivities from the provincial council (there is 79 at the moment) and for the places for free wifi access in the different municipalities. Marina Bravo, added that the hike trails, cycling, climbing and “via ferratas” also are going to be important in the mobile application “Costa del Sol Malaga”, because the app is constantly being uploaded. 

Malaga is the first Spanish province that offers a touristic service with these characteristics because it takes over the full area (7.306 square kilometers over 103 municipalities around nine regions).
It has been necessary a full previous work from the council, who´s territorial information service has referenced all the touristic, historic, monumental and environmental spots from the province.
