Scrubland
Mountain species (above 1,300 meters above sea level) with a preference for coniferous or deciduous forests in which cleared areas of grassland and shrubs with winter fruits are mixed. Also present in parks and crops in mountain areas.
Wintering species in the province. The Fieldfare breeds in northern Europe in April. One annual laying of 5 to 6 eggs. Nest in trees. Omnivore. It feeds on berries, seeds and fruits, in addition to invertebrates that it gathers in the ground turning over the litter, raising stones or under the snow.
It is the less frequent and abundant thrush of those present in Malaga. Only in high mountain areas, such as Sierra de las Nieves and Sierra Tejeda. It can be observed in the Spanish fir forests of Yunquera and Ronda. In the Great Path it can be watched in stage 23.
Gregarious species that usually travels and feeds in the company of the Redwing. Its nomadic habits when foraging have earned this bird the name in English "Fieldfare", which probably means "passenger through the fields", since it is constantly moving around looking for food and exploring new areas.
