Urban environments
Species very linked to man. It prefers rural or urban areas close to agricultural land and open areas, although it is very generalist and explores almost all types of habitats.
Bird resident all year round in Malaga. It starts breeding in April, making 2 to 3 annual layings of 4 to 6 eggs, although it can get to breed at other times of the year according to the availability of food. Omnivorous feeding.
Frequent and common species in almost all the Great Path.
The Celts considered the sparrows messengers of the Gods and that their presence was a sign of prosperity and good harvests. The Romans thought that the Gods sent the sparrows to the cupboards as protectors of the grain. Although they consumed a part, they eliminated the insects that could spoil the seeds. Paradoxically, today they are scarce and their presence in certain types of establishments and industries (food, hospitality, agriculture) is considered a nuisance.
